Merry Christmas and Happy Voyage!

As my first buddy, I was quite nervous when you were still about to join the team. I was about to become a lead, so I needed a lot of training. Showing that incompetence to my buddy would be quite embarrassing. I had to feign confidence just to increase my credibility in my trainings. Hopefully, it didn’t seem obvious. Anyway, I am quite proud of your accomplishments. Within a few weeks (or was it months?), you already showed amazing analytical skills and exceeded my expectations. Even your team mates and the other leads noticed your excellence. I’m sorry if I wasn’t able to make you feel that. As your lead, I should have managed to make you stand out more.

I also apologize for not taking much time for you guys. We were supposed to have monthly 1:1s, where we will not just talk about work-related stuff, but also non-work and career-related topics. But not being an organized person, I wasn’t able to schedule 1:1s properly. Not being a good conversationalist, I wasn’t able to provide you with fruitful 1:1s. I hope I didn’t make you feel left out or ignored. I hope you really felt part of the team. And I hope you enjoy yourself in your next team.
