Hi Shifu!

Merry Christmas and Happy Voyage!

I think I pretty much said whatever I could say in the notes we’ve given you in the past gifts (like the notebook that came with the stamp). Well, since you’re the only one who’s supposed to see this (supposed to…), I guess I can be more honest about this.

YOU LEFT DMT! I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU JUST LEFT US TO BUUUUUURN!!!

QA WILL BE FINE, HE SAID… FE AND RICHARD ARE THERE, HE SAID…

Kidding aside, I was really pretty happy being the backup lead. I can have the authority in the team without the responsibility, after all. Though being a team lead still has its perks (no more aligning CDOs and whatnot… not that I got to use it well). But I really imagined being the backup lead for maybe 2 years, which I was really comfortable with. So it was a surprise when you said that you were changing roles. I might not have showed my surprise back then, since the thought didn’t sink in much (that might have been a bad thing).

Well, I think it was apparent that I enjoyed being a team lead. I don’t think I managed to guide the team to the direction that you wanted for the team. But I think we got close enough. Anyway, this is supposed to be a farewell/appreciation letter, so I’m stopping my story here.

I’m most thankful to you for pushing me into taking the lead role. Though it was outside my comfort zone, I also wanted to take it since it’s an opportunity that might never come again. But it was your push and boost in my confidence that made me really believe that I can handle it properly. It’s up to you to judge how that turned out.

Well, that’s that. Thank you for your guidance to us. Good luck on your next role and your future endeavors. Happy holidays!
